The League Handbook

KingSquare shouldn't just have players. It should have offices — each with authority, responsibility, and a duty to protect the integrity of the game.

The League

The King's League

"The King's League is the official competitive body of KingSquare." It preserves the Official Rules, the Rankings, the Certified Officials, the Seasons, the Tournaments, the World Championship, the Player Statistics, and Badge Verification. "Every official game belongs to the League."

"A Match creates a victor.
A Tournament crowns a champion.
A Campaign proves consistency.
A Career defines a legacy.
The King's League preserves them all."
Definitions

From a Match to a Career

Match

"A Match is one complete official game of KingSquare. A Match creates a victor." Four players, one battlefield, one winner (standard player count is an open question) — 2–6 hours by battlefield size. Counts toward Rank, Badges, and Career stats.

🏆

Tournament

"A Tournament is multiple Matches held during one organized event. A Tournament crowns a champion." Winners earn a Tournament Title, statistics, badge progress, and League points.

🌎

Campaign

"A Campaign is a competitive season made of multiple Tournaments. A Campaign proves consistency." Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Campaigns.

👑

Career

"A Career is one official ranked year of League play. A Career defines a legacy." Career stats archive annually; lifetime records continue. Career 2027: 94 Sessions · 27 Matches · 3 Tournament Wins · 1 Campaign Championship · 14 Badges.

How service is counted

League Points determine the Annual Rankings, Invitations, Seeding, and Awards. "But they do not determine Rank. Rank still comes from learning and examinations."

Once a Year

The Grand Convocation

🏛

The greatest event of the year

Held once yearly: new Grandmasters are recognized, Honors are awarded (among them the Architect Laureate), the Hall of Legends receives its inductions, the World Championship is decided, Codex revisions are ratified, the Founder addresses the community — and the next Campaign is announced.

The Codex

Laws of the League

The Law of Value.

"Money brings competitors. Honor builds traditions. KingSquare events shall never be built around gambling or prize money alone. Entry fees, memberships, merchandise, and sponsorships exist to strengthen the battlefield, support the League, reward excellence, and preserve the long-term future of the game."

The Founder's Rule of Event Revenue. Every dollar an event earns is divided:

SharePurpose
40%Event experience, prizes, and production
20%League operations — officials, website, the Codex
20%Future growth — maps, the Academy, streaming, prototypes
20%Business profit and reserves

The Prize Philosophy. The invitation is never "Win money" — it is "Compete for the Crown."

"Cash prizes may exist, but honor, titles, badges, and legacy are the true rewards of KingSquare."
"A kingdom is strongest not because it builds everything itself, but because it establishes a standard worthy of being followed."

Royal titles

Role-play titles that deepen the story — not separate pieces. One exception stands on the battlefield: the King. The General is a second human player, not a piece (Codex § 4; whether the General keeps any board token is an open question).

👑 The King — rules, and travels to found new Castles.
General — a second human player commanding under the King's authority; not a piece (board token: open question).
🏛 Chancellor — embassies, diplomacy, alliances.
High Priest — religion and morale.
🪨 Master Engineer — quarries, bridges, walls.
🌲 Master Builder — lumberyards, harbors, construction.
🎓 Royal Scholar — the university and knowledge.
